Robert Singer
Embodied Abstraction
Whalebone Studio SH
Southampton, New York
Mixed-media work on wood, canvas, and panel: geometric structure held against oxidized copper, neon, medical imaging, and assemblage. Perception and material change are the conditions of the studio.
Recent work includes oxidizing-copper paintings such as Apophasis and Lattice & Verdigris; Limina, a painted diptych split by neon; the neon construction Contiguity (in production); MacGuffin assemblages with Waterstone instruments; and Data Art experiments. The conversation runs through Pollock, Judd, Flavin, Chamberlain, and Op Art.
